Discord Developer Mode: Explained (2022)

What is developer mode on Discord?

Discord has a developer mode that helps developers to access more features in the chat app. Aimed at bot developers, the mode unlocks a new option in the context menu that allows you to easily copy IDs for servers, channels, server members, and even messages. These credentials are helpful when setting up your Discord bot. Developer mode is also essential for developers who want to integrate their service into the rich presence that appears as an activity status.

Enable Discord Developer Mode (Desktop, Web)

1. Open the Discord app and click the gear icon in the bottom left corner of the screen.

2. Next, click “Advanced” on the left sidebar of the Discord settings page.

3. Now turn on the “Developer Mode” switch to enable developer mode to copy IDs to Discord. You now have access to all the developer-focused features offered by the popular chat app.

4. You can also access “Application Trial Mode” to make trial purchases of SKUs related to your application. However, it should be noted that Discord has discontinued the feature that allows businesses to set up store channels on Discord servers starting in March 2022.

5. You can enter your App ID to enter test mode for your app. As mentioned above, this feature is expected to be removed soon.
